NHC: Bay of Plenty Open Teams
NHC is our Open Men’s and Women’s opportunity to represent Bay of Plenty on the National stage.
Bay of Plenty enters team into the National Hockey Championship on an annual basis.
The National Hockey Championship provides an opportunity for players wishing to earn selection for the franchise Junior Hockey League and Premier Hockey League sides as well as for National sides. The National Hockey Championship is a tiered tournament. Tier 1 will have 8 male and 8 female association teams playing for the National Championship. Tier 2 and 3 will have the remaining associations and B teams for the bigger associations. Bay of Plenty will have a Men's and Women's team competing in the Tier 3 competitions and both will be aiming to earn promotion to Tier 2.

Tournament details .
In 2026 the National Hockey Championship (NHC) will be hosted by Wellington Hockey. Bay of Plenty Hockey Association will send both a Men’s and Women’s team to the NHC in 2026.
VENUE: Wellington
DATES: 13th to19th September 2026
Eligibility.
Players aged 15 - 17 as at the 1st January 2026 are eligible for selection to Under 18 teams
Fees.

2026 NHC Fees
$1350
Please note an initial deposit of $135 is required after selection.
Unless a payment plan is agreed with Bay of Plenty Hockey all fees must be paid in full 2 weeks prior to tournament.
Failure to make payment or discuss a payment plan may result in players being withdrawn from tournament teams.

For the NHC all off-field clothing is optional for players to purchase.
