Secondary Competitions.

Secondary School Competition .

The Bay of Plenty Hockey Association Secondary School competition comprises teams from our 3 sub-associations. With multiple grades across boys and girls to provide the right level of hockey for all Secondary School players. Games are played in all 3 sub-association venues, when a Whakatāne side plays against a Taupō side games are held in Rotorua to minimise the drive for travelling teams.

Term 2 Competition

Starts Tuesday 5th May, 2026 (Week 3)

Concludes - Thursday 2nd July, 2026 (Week 11) 

Term 3 Competition

Starts Tuesday 21st July, 2026 (Week 1)

Concludes - Thursday 27th August, 2026 (Week 6) 

Fees.

  • 2026 BOP Secondary School Competition

    $2750 per team

    Registration fees cover the following:

    Hockey NZ Affiliation

    BOP Hockey Affiliation

    Umpire Fees

    Turf / Game Charges

    Competition Fees

    $2750 per team entry for BOP Secondary School Competition. Teams paying on or before 20th May 2025 can benefit from an early payment discount of $250 per team.

  • 2026 Intercity Secondary School Competition

    The 2nd round of the competition provide 1st XI teams the opportunity to compete in the Midlands Intercity Secondary School Competition (MISSC).

    There is an additional administration fee of $120 for the MISSC and schools who are playing both local and MISSC rounds will need to pay additional turf and umpire fees of $510 for the 6 rounds played.

Competition Management.

In 2026 the Secondary Competition will be governed by a Bay of Plenty Hockey Sub-Committee, comprising of Bay of Plenty Hockey Association Board Members, Bay of Plenty Hockey Association staff and co-opted Secondary School members.
