Bay of Plenty U18 Men Finish Runners-Up at National Indoor Championships

The Bay of Plenty U18 Men’s Indoor Hockey team delivered an outstanding performance at the National Indoor Hockey Championship in Taupō, finishing second overall.

The team progressed through to the final where they faced Wellington, a side they had drawn with during pool play. Bay of Plenty took a strong 3–0 lead into halftime before Wellington responded in the third and fourth quarters to level the match at 3–3.

With two minutes remaining, Bay of Plenty regained the lead at 4–3. Wellington then converted a penalty corner on full time to force a shootout, where they ultimately secured the win.

Throughout the tournament, the team displayed skill, determination, and exciting indoor hockey under the guidance of coach Oriwa Hepi, a New Zealand Indoor Hockey representative and proud Bay of Plenty local.

Finishing runners-up at a national championship is a significant achievement, and the performance of this group is one to be proud of.
